With over 15 years in the business, Ed’s mastering career encompasses many different genres of music, taking in rock, pop, folk, dance, punk, indie and jazz.
Where it began
Ed has been immersed in music since he was 5 and used to spend long journeys in the back of his parents’ car re mastering radio tracks in his head.
He started playing bass in friends’ bands aged 13 and cut his eq teeth teaching himself to use pc software to engineer their home recordings.
Starting “real work” as a studio gopher in his teens, Ed has over 15 years experience of the whole process from recording to mixing to mastering.
These days he’s moved on a bit, using professional equipment to work with bands like The Manics and Idlewild, but his passion remains.
Passion for learning new things – about the latest gear that can be harnessed to give an extra edge to a recording, or new practices in the industry.
Passion for realising the full potential of a recording – Ed has a knack of hearing that potential and works closely with his clients to achieve it.
Passion for mastering itself – ultimately Ed loves what he does and people like him doing it.
Which is pretty great really.
